Explaining away Religion?

Is man truly “wired” to believe in God? The claim has been contested for centuries. Ultimately, we will live in either faithfulness to or rebellion against the covenant God of Scripture.

The Death of Man and the Crisis of the Social Order

May 10, 2016  |  Joe Boot

Without love to God and a recognition of his Word-revelation to us in Christ and in Scripture, we are not only unable to truly love our neighbor, we cannot even identify them truly. We find, in fact, that we cannot answer the most elementary question ‘what is a human person?’ Our rejection of God and the image of God in man leads to the endless defacing and destruction of that imagerather than seeking life and light in the triune God.

Witchcraft

Witchcraft is the attempt to acquire knowledge or power by manipulation and control. Scripture is clear that, apart from God and his word, such an act is in fact a headlong plunge into folly. The apostle James reminds us the path to true spiritual insight: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” (James 1:5). A humble and faithful plea to the only wise God is the way of wisdom. Any supposed shortcuts are the way of rebellion.
