Presuppositions and Conversations

May 5, 2008  |  Joe Boot

In evangelism Christians tend to monologue, but conversation through dialogue is crucial for apologetic engagement. To communicate meaningfully means we imitate our Creator who has made us in His image. Our God is a living God who genuinely interacts with His creatures.

Chapter 20

The Apostolic Mission of the Church

October 14, 2012  |  Joe Boot
The apostolic calling for the church today is that we are being sent by God into the world to accomplish His purposes. God has privileged His people to do His work. If we are an apostolic church, we're to have the face of an angel, ministering and serving one another. The gospel brings the light of forgiveness of sins, and it also changes hearts and so it changes social orders. The gospel has made conquest of individuals and nations; it has given life to dead churches; it has revolutionized continents. It liberates captives.

Rome at Last and The Victory of the Gospel

June 10, 2012  |  Joe Boot

Paul spoke to the Jewish leaders of the Hope of Israel: the Kingdom of God manifested in the resurrection of Christ. As with all Paul's preaching to the Jews, some believed the message of faith in Jesus and others did not (Acts 28:24). God's Word cannot be put under arrest. Likewise the gospel in our time will ultimately succeed. Acts ends with the gospel witness spreading from Rome, and today the power of the gospel is operative in Toronto.
