Wisdom is to face trials with steadfast faithfulness. In the biblical view, wisdom comes not from man's abstract reflection, but through God's word and the trials He sends.
The Great Conversation
The New Testament is about Christ's servants delivering and spreading the good news about the Lordship and Kingship of Christ.
Thirsty Souls and Living Water
When people reject the things of God, whether knowingly or unknowingly they reap destruction. Mocking God has the consequence of covenantal separation from God. In our culture, we are reaping the consequences of mocking God: a generation of aimlessness and despair.
Wise as Serpents, Gentle as Doves
In the context of opposition and threats, Jesus sent out His disciples, men called to confront the darkness in their culture.
The mothers laughed, incredulous at God's grace in bringing life to the barren.
The Return of the King
Jesus has come to save a people for Himself from every tribe and nation. The incarnation gives us a philosophy of history: the sovereign God of the Bible has come into history as Lord and King.
God brings comfort to His people even when delivering words of judgment; this is because we already know and expect His covenant promises. Judgment begins with the household of God, because we have known mercy, but rejected its practice in our own lives.
Being a Man of God
I. To be a man of God means we're to be intercessors (people of prayer). II. To be a man of God is to be a man or woman of the covenant. III. Being a man of God is to be a man or woman of courage.
The Word of Power
Samson embodies a covenant relationship with God. He is strong when faithful to God, but weak when faithless. The Word of God carries power; when it is acted on in faith, there is an effectiveness and blessing released by the work of the Holy Spirit.
At Ease in Zion
The cross highlights the moral necessity of God's wrath against sin and His sacrifice to show sinners His mercy.
